I now feel like I almost know the way again. The comforting hum of tires on familiar roads. Almost home again.
Scan and crop of a 4×5 Ilford 4×5 negative. There seems to be a slight tilt, perhaps the back wasn’t aligned properly. It wasn’t intentional, but I like that the focus fades a bit toward her feet.

I’ve always loved shooting in the wonderful light upstairs in my home. Nice to be able to shoot there again whenever I want.
Ilford HP5+ 4×5 negative, shot with a heavy tilt on the front lens board to keep the focus where I wanted it!

no unauthorized use or i’ll cut your fingers off
I’ve seen images like this done many times. You put a model on a riser, wrap a long draping fabric around her waist, and create the illusion of extended height. It’s a compelling illusion. So I asked Caitie if we could try to do something similar and our take on it might be something slightly different. We tried many different poses and so many of them are beautiful and engaging, but for some reason this morning, this particular shot took a hold of me and I ran with it.
Hope you enjoy this morning’s artful adventure!
